Ripping & copying DVD movies can be rather time consuming but can also be considered worthwhile and profitable. In any case; if you’d like to copy a friends DVD for your own collection or theres another reason why you want to copy a ‘copyrighted’ DVD, follow these steps….
1) If you haven’t yet your going to need to download the following tools which can be found below..
DVD Decrypter [removes copyright and rips DVD files onto your hard drive]
DVD Shrink [shrinks DVD files to fit onto standard 4.7 GB DVDs]
Nero Burning Rom v 6.10 [this program is optional. will synchronize with DVD Shrink when burning DVDs]
2) After you’ve gotten the required tools, in most cases your going to need to remove the ‘copyright’ from the source DVD. To do this simply insert the disc into your DVD drive, and open DVD Decrypter. Now you want to click the “Decrypt” button towards the bottom left hand portion of the application, once you do this; the software is going to take the data from the source DVD nad put a “non-copyrighted” version of it in your ‘C:\’ directory (unless you specified otherwise)
3) This process should take around 20-40 minutes pending on the speed of your device. Once the decrytion has been complete you will receive notification, at this point you can get rid of the source DVD from your DVD drive. Now in most cases your ‘non-copyrighted’ movie located on your “c:\” is going to be too large to fit on a standard DVD (4.7 GB) so what your going to want to do is: SHRINK IT!, unless you dont mind putting a movie onto two sperate DVD’s which i would find rather annoying, getting up half way through a movie to change discs. but if you dont mind, go ahea and skip the next step.
4)Open DVD skrink. Click the ‘Open Files’ button located at the top of the application, from this screen your going to browse to the directory in which you sent the ‘Non-copyrighted’ copy of your source DVD. for example if you are copying the movie “Dodgeball”, its directory is going to be “C:\DODGEBALL” . After browsing to this directory and highlighting the proper folder click the OK button. Now the software should automatically start analyzing the data, if for some reason it doesnt do this; just click ‘Analyze’. Now this process should take about 10 minutes or so. Once you do this; theres one last thing you must complete. Burning the DVD
5) If you werent lazy and you downloaded Nero, DVD skrink will syncronize with nero for the burning process. So this is rather easy, while DVD shrink is open click the “Backup!” button located directory next to the “Analyze” button. At the point you should have a Blank DVD in your DVD drive, and the software should automatically do the rest for you. Burning should take almost 30 mins, again pending on your device speeds.
