Why I cancelled my order with Apple

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

I was considering canceling my order for a MBP with the Apple Store due to the fact it’s been about 2 weeks and my order status still shows item not yet shipped. So yesterday I called to complain to a representative which in result getting free priority shipping insuring me it will be delivered within the next 3 days, which satisfied me. Then I wake up this morning jump on Digg.com and see that as of today new versions of the MacBook Pro have been released. Nothing to major about the about the update that would make me feel like a sucker, they come loaded with up to 2.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processors, and the MacBook Air’s trackpad which allows for multi-touch gestures. After seeing this I had to check the prices of the older generation MBP’s (which I just ordered) and as I suspected the price had dropped on all of the Macbooks significantly. So I called back in to Apple and they allowed me to cancel my previous order and get the upgraded model of the MBP for the same price. I went from 1GB RAM to 2GB, 128MB Video Memory to 256MB, a glossy widescreen display and from a 2.16 GHz processor to 2.33 GHz. So I guess the backorder was a good thing, and if you happen to be in the market for a Macbook on a budget, check out these great deals from the Apple Store.

Just ordered a new Macbook Pro

Friday, February 15th, 2008

So February has finally came and thanks to income tax plus bonus incentives from my company I bought a new laptop. I Decided I should go with a Mac and try out OS X. I bought a refurbished model because I saved about 25% off the total retail of a new MBP ($1,999.00), plus it comes with a 1-year warranty so at least I won’t be screwed if something does go wrong. I went with the 15″ monitor and the 2.16 ghz processor (Intel Core Duo). This will be my main work horse, I plan on running a dual boot system with XP and OS X so I can travel with one laptop. I wish it came in black, but oh well. I love getting new toys, review coming soon…

UPDATE:Check out this post to see the upgraded model I received.

My MySpace

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I’ve actually had a MySpace account since like 2005. The entire time it’s been styled using MySpace’s gaudy default theme. My friends always commented about my page not looking fancy enough and is too boring. Blah, Blah..and considering geek status, apparently it should be a lot nicer.

I never really cared nor found the time to change the style, update my profile, network with people, or use any of the MySpace features that people tend to get addicted too and frankly I was beginning to get tired of all the spam I was receiving in my e-mail about these random, unknown females wanting to be my friend, so I could eventually find them on their own porn site and subscribe to a membership. So I was getting ready to delete my account when I noticed that the MySpace development team added a Captcha security feature when adding friends/sending messages. So after enabling this feature my spam was completely gone, and I could retain the benefits of having a MySpace. (mainly search engine traffic, but keeping in touch with friends is nice too)

So over this past weekend I had a horrible tooth ache, which resulted in a root canal, so I didn’t do much of anything except bum around my apartment, some cleaning and once that was all done I figured I would spend some time styling my MySpace page. So check it out if you’d like here: myspace.com/mikecicc

Finally Got My Truck Back

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

So I was pretty sure that the suspension had went on my Range Rover. It’s old and has a lot of miles on it, so I didn’t want to dump thousands of dollars into it. So I brought it to the dealer to have it diagnosed. Apparently there was nothing wrong with the suspension at all, there was a voltage malfunction in the computer system that was caused by a bad alternator. So they replaced my alternator and battery, now the truck runs great.

I lucked out, even though the alternator, battery & labor cost over $1,000 plus it took them 2 weeks to finish. I hate having car problems.

So my buddy had a party last night, that was broken up by the cops because of loud music. Which is all reasonable. So I’m forced to leave the party by these asshole cops (i intended on staying there the night because i had been drinking). Apparently i wasn’t aloud to stay there so I start walking down the street on my cellphone trying to find a ride. Mind you, I’m of legal age to drink but I didn’t want to drive away while the cops were there because I didn’t want to get a DWI or anything, plus my house is way out of walking distance from the party. 3-4 cops pull up on the corner that I was on (down the road from the party) jump out of their cars talking about “didn’t we ask you all to leave?” so I’m the closest one to the cops kinda standing there by my self and this chick police officer, who happens to be a huge bitch, grabs me, tries to like slam me on the hood of her car, cuffs me, totally treats me like I’m resisting, the entire time I’m laughing because she is so serious. Probably why she was so angry, but still…

So now I’m going to jail in the back of the cop car, asking what my charges were (i still haven’t been read my miranda rights) the officer tells me to “sit back and shut the fuck up” … finally get the station and booked to learn that I was arrested for disorderedly conduct, which was news to me, being that i wasn’t being disorderedly at all…but whatever

While I’m at the station, and the officers are discussing my arrest, the bitch is lying already, saying that she asked me to leave the party numerous times, and I didn’t want to leave, which was bullshit. She also said she arrested me at the party, but like I said I was down the street walking away.

It’s going to be interesting to see what this officer says in court for the reason I was arrested, like shes going to have to lie, in order for her to make sense out of her arrest.

Anyways i was treated like a total criminal, when I didn’t break any laws, I wish I had a bunch of money to hire a lawyer and sue them..but I don’t so I guess I’ll just complain about it, just sad how corrupt our law enforcement is.

I live next door to the mayor of our city, Vince Anello. I think I’m going to stop over there one day soon and let him know what happened to me, I don’t expect him to do me any favors or even take any actions on my specific case, but maybe the mayor would like to learn how his local police officers handle business. odds are he doesn’t care, but who does ?

Sony Handycam - Ebay Auction

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I’ve recently been looking for a digital camcorder. Since this is my first video camera I decided that I would buy a used one off of Ebay. I did my research and decided that the best format for me to use would be mini DV cassettes. I got away with a really nice camera for cheap. The retail price on a Sony DCR-TRV70 Handycam was ~$1,000.00 new, and the reviews that I read on it were all 100% positive. I just won the auction today with a final bid of $180.00 plus $25 shipping. Only downfall about the whole auction was theres no AC Battery charger included, but I found a generic AC charger that is compatible on ebay for like $5, so I ordered that as well, just hope it works.

Here are some pictures off the auction site. I will post more pictures and a review of the camera once it comes in and I have time to play with it.

Oh, by the way, !dsfasdf!
